I am so excited (and equally as nervous) for the launch of my EP ‘Meet You There’!
It feels like it’s been a long time coming, I've wanted to do a new EP for the past year or so. With my previous album being a purely acoustic, homemade one from 2012 I felt it was time to get a few new tracks recorded. I wanted to create something that would sound professional and engaging, something that I can send off to people and places to get them interested in my music and to take me seriously as a writer and artist. Therefore, I’ve gone the whole hog and put together four Americana/Folk style tracks lined with instruments and harmonies and a whole load of wonderful stuff! It’s so good to hear my songs sounding so full compared to when it’s just me and my guitar.
I spent day after day designing the artwork, you probably wouldn't think so to look at it, but I probably drew it out and painted it 20 times over until it was about right and still I can find fault with it but never mind! It’s been stressful but I love to draw and paint and don’t have much time to pursue it as much as I’d like to these days, so it was a good opportunity to delve into an old hobby.
Choosing the right songs for the EP took forever. I would have had the EP out way before now if I wasn't so indecisive. Altogether, i'm happy with the tracks that i've decided to put on the EP. Truthfully, I could have written a 15 track album on my travels and wanderlust...so it was hard deciding exactly which ones would go on there! You never know, 'Meet You There' part 2 might be out next year...
For my launch night on April 15th I will be playing live with my own band for the first time and this in itself is a scary thought! I’ve only ever relied on myself when gigging and I love that, I can go wrong or change the words a bit and no one bats an eyelid! But with a band I have to be aware of myself a lot more. Back in high school I was in a band but I just played lead guitar (terribly) and I have sung with bands before but I have only ever just sung, never played guitar too, so that's something I find a bit strange - having other people accompany me as well as myself! The band is great though and it’s lovely to do something a bit different and to step out of my comfort zone!
I'm so excited for to show everyone the new tracks on the night, make sure you meet me there!
The ‘Meet You There’ EP Launch will be at Gullivers, Oldham Street, Manchester on Friday 15th April, with CDs available to purchase on the night.
